When a small fire can overtake a home within a few minutes, you have to place multiple smoke alarms throughout your home. Having a smoke alarm in your home would be very helpful for detecting a fire as soon as possible. According to the National Fire Protection Association, every organization needs to focus on fire safety by installing a smoke alarm in several areas throughout the building. There are generally three types of alarms that you can use in your Homes. Some detect heat and actual fire, some detect smoke, and some do both jobs. Heat Detector is the first residential fire alarm and is usually considered as old technology. They promote a detecting component inside the unit for activating an alarm when it reaches a planned temperature. Heat detectors are enough for all those places where the speed of detection isn't important, or in small, confined spaces. Heat detector contains a lower false alarm rate but they are considered slower for detecting fires. Smoke alarms are used for detecting the fires more quickly than heating detector to contact fire protection service.
There are three types of smoke alarms including ionization that contains bits of radioactive material for emitting ions and creating a faint electrical current between electrodes. When the smoke enters the internal chamber the current flow is disrupted and the alarm sounds. This type of alarm works best for very high-speed, dangerous fires. Photoelectric is another type of smoke alarms that operates by using a light source and a photoelectric sensor. When the smoke enters and interrupts the way of light the light would be scattered causing the activation of the alarm. Combination alarm uses both use both ionization and photo-electrical technology to provide better fire protection service. Power sources can be powered by hand-wired and with batteries.
